Chapters 10, 11, and 12 Brandy, Angie, Mindy, and Ashley

Chapter 10: The Games  Peeta announces during his interview that he is in love with Katniss  Katniss is upset until she discovers that her team is in on this, and they are trying to gain sponsors for her.  More sponsors=more supplies and weapons  Next day, Katniss travels to the arena via hovercraft, and the tracking device is placed under her skin.

The Arena  Once Katniss arrives at the arena (an unknown destination), she is lowered into her own personal “launch room”.  Cinna prepares Katniss by giving her a special suit and shoes, and her Mockingjay pin.  Katniss is raised up from the Launch room into the actual arena. She must wait 60 seconds before she is able to leave her platform.

Chapter 11: Day One  Katniss and other tributes must wait 60 seconds for the gong before running for supplies at the Cornucopia.  Katniss is able to grab a survival pack before running for the woods.  She climbs a tree and straps herself to a branch to sleep, while watching the Capitol’s recap: 11 DEAD!  Is Peeta one of them?

Up in the tree…  Katniss falls asleep, but is awakened at the sound of another tribute attempting to start a fire below her.  She hears the feet of several other tributes that have formed an alliance, and they kill the tribute that started the fire.  Peeta is one of them!!

Chapter 12: The Alliance  While Peeta is finishing off tribute #12, Katniss overhears the Career tributes talking about using Peeta for his knife skills AND to get close to Katniss.  Peeta, unaware that he is being used, is also using the Careers to stay alive.  Katniss makes the watching audience aware that she was listening in on the conversation, and that her cleverness will outwit all of them.

Day 2: Must find water…  Katniss wakes up severely dehydrated and is hoping to find water.  She begins to wonder why Haymitch has not arranged for her sponsors to send water? Is it because she is close to water already?  Katniss travels on through the day and finds nothing.

From water to fire!  Katniss gives up and lays down to die, and she discovers she is laying in mud…WATER!  She purifies some water and climbs a tree to rest.  Katniss is awakened by a stampede of forest animals running from a wall of fire that is descending on her!
