English We will be learning about the story and the characters from the Gruffalo. We will be learning to write simple and compound sentences with the correct punctuation. We will also be learning about adjectives and how they make our writing more descriptive.. Mathematics We will be counting in different contexts and identifying the values of each digit. We will be solving addition problems and exploring length and height. Science Describing materials. Children will know that there are different materials. They will understand that materials have different properties. This term our topic is: Learning friends History The children will be thinking about changes within their living memory, such as how Eling has changed for them. PE The children will have opportunities to develop key skills such as agility, balance and co-ordination. ICT We will be exploring different types of ICT found in the school and the local area. Art We are developing our sketching skills around a common theme of Eling. Music The children will be developing their listening skills. At the same time they will play and explore different instruments. RE We are going to be thinking about belonging and the community. We will also look at places that Christians and Hindus worship. Rationale: The children will be exploring what it is like to be resourceful, resilient, reflective and have good relationships through looking at our school learning friends (see overleaf). Round up: The children will receive a certificate based around the learning characteristics of the animals. Our library is open every day from am Please ensure PE kits are in school at ALL times. For all PE lessons the children with long hair must have it tied back and all earrings must be covered with tape. Please make sure that clothes are named so that we do not lose things! Please look in the class notice boards for any new notices Please encourage your child to read for a few minutes each night and to write a comment in their reading diaries. We will also send home key words for the children to learn please practise these with your child by playing some fun games. Please feel free to ask a member of staff for some ideas. Hold a Sentence and Phonics homework will be sent home weekly. Design Technology The children are going to learn how to recognise where our food comes from. PSHE We are going to find out how our learning friends help us at school. We will learn about caring for other people.
