Presentation transcript:

Dolphins are marine mammals closely related to whales and porpoises. Almost 40 species They are found worldwide, mostly in the shallower seas They are carnivores, mostly eating fish and squid Dolphins are social creatures living in pods of about a dozen. Dolphins love to play. They are known to ride waves, play with each other, and even other creatures.

Sea Turtles almost always are underwater, however they have a “anaerobic system of respiration.” This means that they breathe air but they can be under water for long periods of time. Depending on the Turtle the average life span is around 80 Turtle go onto the beach to lay their eggs. They generally lay eggs. The female will lay her eggs and then return to the sea leaving the eggs. Since all species of Turtles are listed as endangered there is great work being put into to protect these animals.

Killer Whales can be found from the Arctic to the Tropical oceans They prefer high latitudes They eat anything from fish to sea lions. Killer Whales are also very social creatures with a family system. They are on the U. S. Endangered Species list Calves are born with a yellowish or orange tint that they grow out of. Killer Whales can be trained and often are.

The Beluga Whale is also known as the white whale They are found in the Arctic and Sub-Arctic Areas Males are larger than the female whales In adulthood the Beluga Whale is rarely mistaken for any other creature because of its all white body. They calves have a grayish tint. Beluga’s are very sociable Calves are dependent on their mother for about two years They are listed as “near threatened” because there is not a certain number of the Whales. There is also fear that if conservation efforts stop they will be Endangered.
