Iraq War By: Stephanie Carpenter

George W Bush George W. Bush and seven of his top officials, including Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, and Donald Rumsfeld, made at least 935 false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about the national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, information about the record shows that the statements were part of a campaign that led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.

Iraq War Statistics 4,481 US Soldiers Killed, 32,195 Seriously Wounded. Spent & Approved War- Spending - About $1 trillion of taxpayers funds spent or approved for spending through Lost & Unaccounted for in Iraq - $9 billion of US taxpayers' money. Lost and Reported Stolen - $6.6 billion of U.S. taxpayers' money for Iraq reconstruction, reported on June 14, 2011

Iraq War The Iraq war was started in March of 2003, But the U.S. and Britain have had a undeclared war for about twelve years. Within hours of the attacks of September 11th, 2001, on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, which killed over 3000 people, the Bush was blaming Osama bin Laden and his alleged Al-Qaeda network, and declaring a war on terrorism. Bush was already- preparing plans for massive bombing raids against Afghanistan.

Saddam Hussein In 1968, Saddam assisted his cousin, Hassan al-Bakr, in the Baathist takeover of Iraq. By the mid- 1970s, he had become Iraq's unofficial leader, a role that he officially took on following al- Bakr's death in He was sentenced to death.
