Why National Quality Program Standards? Develop consistency in program delivery across the country. Identify the indicators of a quality program. Provide picture of a complete, balance agricultural education program. Assist agricultural educators in creating a complete, balance program. Engage partners in the delivery of agricultural education.

How do we use the NQPS’s? As a self-assessment. As a snap shot of where the program is. As a comparison against the perfect program. As a tool for program improvement.

What are the desired outcomes of using NQPS’s? Assist the agricultural educator in identifying areas for improvement. Strengthen the delivery of a complete agricultural education program. Provide support for agricultural educators who need assistance in reaching a higher standard.

Responsibilities of Participants Teachers –with the assistance of your team, identify one standard to focus improvement efforts towards school year, create an action plan identifying the steps you will take toward improvement, implemement the actions, assess progress.

Responsibilities of Paarticipants Administrator – provide support identified by your team, serve as an accountability partner for the educator to move towards improvement. Advisory committee member – guide the educator towards improvement and identifying resources

How will the NQPS Impact Students Performance Increase student engagement in the 3 R’s Identify barriers to delivering effective instruction. Indentify resources for improving instruction. Provide community guidance for the program. Make student partners in their educational experience.

Where Do Partnership Fit in? Provide resources. Be a resource. Assist with developing program focus and goals. Assist agricultural educator with creating balance between their work life and personal life.

Assessment Tool Rating scale –4: Exemplary or Advanced –3: Promising or Proficient –2: Improving or Basic –1: Struggling or Needs Improvement –0: Non-existent and Where is it?

Summary Page Record score for each indicator Rank each standard for = non-existent 1 = struggling 2 = improving 3 = promising 4 = exemplary

Today: Complete improvement tool. Identify a priority area to focus efforts towards the 2010 – 2011 school year. Identify partners who can assist with implementation. Discuss roles of each partner for implementing strategies.

Today: Identify resources that are available. Identify barriers to implementation. Create an action plan for implementation.

Priority Area(s) for Focus in School Year Implement strategies for improvement as outlined in your action plan. Engage partners and students in the process. Work towards developing a complete, balance program. Retake improvement tool.

LPS Role: Provide resources and assistance as needed. Provide a degree of accountability.
