WELCOME! LOOK AT OUR BW FOR THURSDAY:  [5 min] Get a laptop and log in.  If the laptop is not working-- shut it down, and get a new one.  Pick up papers:  Participation Handout and Explanation  Research Essay Handout/Rubric—DUE VALENTINE’S DAY (fix errors)

AGENDA  [5 min] Writing Folders  Grab a folder and write your name on the tab clearly. Last Name, First Name.  Place your first writing piece in the folder and tape/staple/secure the strength and weakness sheet on the left hand side of the folder.  If you were absent on Friday, you have the rest of the hour to write your impromptu.  If you were absent on Thursday, you have the rest of the hour to complete your pre test.

PRACTICE  [42 min] Research your topic on the computer.  Complete the CRAAP test for the 2 websites you find.  Record the CRAAP information on a piece of loose leaf paper.  [8 min] Exit ticket: write your claim on a post it with your first name, last name, and period.  Develop a claim based on research you looked at today.  A claim answers the question: What do I think?  A claim is a statement of your position.  Write a position on your topic without using “I.”
