How can we write about our heroes clearly to tell our reader our opinion? Three line, three minutes.

Learning Goal: I can see the relationship between fact and opinion, identify it, and use it in my writing. I can make my idea (opinion) stronger when supported by sufficient relevant details (facts). Essential Question: How do I choose facts to support my opinions? Learning Goal and Essential Question

Take five minutes and share the facts you found doing your research or facts you found from interviewing last night. Following sharing what you found your partner needs to analyze whether or not these are good facts or poor ones. Why or why not? Also are your facts explained? (5 mins) Group Discussion

Today you need to: -Fill in the rest of the facts or interview questions in your organizer. -Explain them. -If you finish the above clearly write out your opinion statement, underneath the organizer, using the character traits you gave your hero. -After all of this, raise your hand for Mrs. Thompson to check your organizer. This organizer is your formative feedback before you actually write your letter. Research time (18 mins)

What was the most helpful tool in your research or interview? Why? (4 mins) Class Discussion

Exit Ticket: What do you have left to do before you begin writing? (2 mins) Turn in as you are dismissed. Exit Ticket

Interviewers: Finish asking interview questions and record responses. Bring tomorrow for review. Public Hero Researchers: None. Homework
