POWERING UP THE LAB! BUDGET PROPOSAL AND DETAILS The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams

What we need… at a low price… Our goal: 1. A 35-computer work station multimedia lab smart classrooms each equipped with 6 computers and a all in one printer. The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams

Our research…  Apple:  Very nice computers but very unreasonable prices.  Over 40, 000 dollars to reach our goal.  Most students are familiar with Pcs. The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams

Our research…  HP:  Very affordable computers for the budget.  Reviews suggest unreliability  Their life span is not that long. The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams

Our Choice… Why Dell? 1. Dell has always given great deals for schools and classrooms. 2. Their computers are reliable and their life span is decent for the price. The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams

What we will be getting for the budget…  35 workstation computers with speakers and a 15inch flat screen monitor.  10 all-in-one printers, 4 of which will be in the designated classrooms.  Two speakers for each workstation.  Microsoft office 2007 suite installed on each and every computer even the ones that will go into the designated classrooms.  A three-year warranty in case problems rise up in the lab or in the designated classrooms. The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams

What we will be getting for the budget…  Our computer specifics: (Summary and basics) 1. The processor: intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor E7300 (2.66GHz, 3M, 1066MHz FSB). This is the chip responsible for all computer applications. It is measured in GHz is a decent speed for what we need. 2. Memory: 1.0GB DDR2 Non-ECC SDRAM, 800MHz, (1DIMM). This is where information is stored when running applications. It is measured in bytes. 2 GB is a good size memory. The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams

What we will be getting for the budget…  Our computer specifics: (Summary and basics) 3. Hard drive: 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s and 8MB DataBurst Cache™. Think of this as a big file cabinet where files are stored. For the price, a 160 GB hard drive on each computer is a lot of space. 4. Dvd Hard Drive: 16X DVD-ROM SATA, Roxio Creator™ Cyberlink Power DVD™. This is an important drive as students can play dvds and also burn dvds on the same computer. The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams

The needed budget…  $ 35,000 to power up the lab and the six smart classrooms.  An internet data plan service with the local service provider. The Free Thinker School Home of the Rams
