Why? To provide opportunities for Delaware arts educators to collect and use data on their students achievement. To ensure that Delaware art educators will not have their classroom effectiveness determined by measures in Reading and Mathematics.

DPAS II Delaware Performance Appraisal System (teachers, administrators, specialists) – Based on Charlotte Danielson’s Enhancing Professional Practice: A Framework for Teaching – Utilized since 2008 – Comprised of five components planning and preparation classroom environment Instruction professional responsibilities student improvement

Internal Measures: teacher developed pre and post tests teacher developed Growth Goals for Dance, Music, Theatre & Visual Art 50%

Component V- internal assessment measures 350 Delaware educators in five cohorts – Cohort 1- ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies & World Languages – Cohort 2- The Arts, Health &Physical Education, English Language Learners – Cohort 3- Career and Technical Education Developed pre/post tests in each content area to measure student growth and Growth Goals – Cohort 4- Non-graded- Librarians, Counselors, Special Education, Nurses- – Cohort 5- Non-tested areas

VPA- Statement of Purpose Assessment in the Visual and Performing Arts is to demonstrate growth in creating and performing through the development and application of artistic literacy.
