2 Acceptance We acknowledge and accept the report from the Special Education Leadership Collaborative

3 Purpose of audit: The Atlanta Public School System requested the Urban Collaborative Team to conduct a self-improvement audit in order to: Examine current practices and procedures of the Program for Exceptional Children (PEC) Understand the perception of stakeholders regarding the provision of special education services

4 Current Changes and Activities Restructured staff roles and responsibilities Clearly defined all processes and procedures relating to state and federal compliance

5 Current Changes and Activities Upgraded IEP online application Refining accountability measures for all service providers Identifying core instructional best practices for widespread implementation Enhancing Customer and Stakeholder relationships

6 Next Steps Respond to each Recommendation Disseminate audit report to the public Present audit report to stakeholder groups – including parents Formulate a plan of action
