Te Ara Piko The Pauatahanui Pathway Pauatahanui Residents Association AGM 2014 Andrew Gray – Landscape Architect, Porirua City Council Photos by A Gray

The Objectives of the Te Ara Piko The Pauatahanui Pathway Project are: 1. Provide enhanced access to and around the Pauatahanui Inlet for walkers and cyclists 2. Protect and enhance the ecological and coastal values of the Inlet 3. Provide a safer route for walkers and cyclists 4. Provide an attractive and uniquely inland coastal recreational opportunity 5. Enhance people's experience and understanding of the ecological values of the Inlet

In 2003 a Project Proposal for the pathway was submitted to Council for funding. The Project was not supported and turned down for funding. In 2005 Stage One was approved and the first turf on the pathway turned. In 2006 annual funding was provided in the LTP. History
