Not A Novice (1 Timothy 3:6) Not a recent convert Greek word, neofuton, means “newly planted, a neophyte, a novice, a new convert, one who recently became a Christian” Might be puffed up (v. 6)

Not A Novice (1 Timothy 3:6) Not required of all Christians One cannot help being a new Christian Elder has been around awhile, able to teach (Hebrews 5:11-14)

Not Covetous (1 Timothy 3:3; Titus 1:7) Not one whose goal is making money Greek word, aischrokerdos, means “not greedy of base gain” Tempted to hoard the Lord’s money Must be driven by love for the church and the souls of men
