The Consequences of a Warmer Earth Julia Genery

Melting Ice  The melting of ice will cause sea levels around the world to rise.  Because of the rising sea levels people who live near the coast can lose there homes, source of income  Fresh water aquifers could become too salty to be used as a source of fresh water

Plants & Animals  Warming can cause a shift in the geographical ranger of some animals. Ex. Birds that migrate to the north may not have 2 migrate to the south during the winter  Warming of the surface water can cause a short in zooplankton which marine animals depend on for food.  Warmer tropical water can kill algae that nourish coral, destroying coral reefs.

Weather patterns If the earth warms up significantly the surface of the ocean will absorb more heat, this can make hurricanes & typhoons more common. If the earth warms up significantly the surface of the ocean will absorb more heat, this can make hurricanes & typhoons more common. Can change ocean current patterns like shutting off the gulf stream. Can change ocean current patterns like shutting off the gulf stream. Some regions can have rainfall more often, sever floods can occur more often Some regions can have rainfall more often, sever floods can occur more often

Health Problems  A warmer average temperature could cause people to suffer from allergies more during the year.  Death because of heath reasons will increase  More mosquitoes which can increase people get these diseases malaria, dengue fever, and encephalitis

Agriculture  Droughts can become more frequent  Decrease in crop yields  Deplete aquifers that have already been over used
