Chapter 3 Test Outline

3.1 Respiratory System Be able to label a diagram Know the functions of each part and the system Explain inhalation and exhalation Know where diffusion occurs Know the difference between breathing and respiration Know what is vital capacity and residual air Know what affects vital capacity

3.2 Circulatory System Be able to label a diagram Know the functions of each part and the system Know arteries, veins, capillaries –Function –Label on diagram –Location of valves –Where diffusion occurs Know the heart –Label parts –Function –Location of valves Know where oxygenated vs. deoxygenated blood is (on a diagram)

Sec. 3.3 Excretory System Be able to label a diagram Know the functions of each part and the system Know which system removes each type of waste Where diffusion takes place

3.4 Digestive System Be able to label a diagram Know the functions of each part and the system Know where physical and chemical digestion occur Know where absorption (diffusion) occurs

Sec. 3.5 Organ Systems Working Together Know the systems involved in nutrients/wastes Know the systems involved in regulation Know how the nervous and endocrine system responses are different Explain how your nervous system response when triggered by a stimuli

Sec. 3.6 Protecting the Body Be able to explain how a vaccine works Be able to explain how antibodies are made Know the terms antigen and pathogen Explain what each line of defense does Know what organs/tissues/cells are involved in each line of defense

REMEMBER: Study all your “CYU” questions, diagrams, and notes! HW: Study guide (vocabulary on p. 88 to “neurons” - keep it simple! And, 10 thoughtful questions…see me if you are still unsure)
