Python By: Erik Castillo

Adaptation A snake's main adaptation to life is its very form. With no legs, arms, ears and other appendages, it can slither through grass or among rocks without causing disturbance that might frighten prey. It can enter narrow holes in the ground made by rodents, find those rodents and eat them. If you think that having no legs causes mobility problems for a snake, you've never seen how fast a snake can move in most environments.

Basic info Pythons range from 1 to 10 m (3 to 33 ft) long and weigh up to 140 kg (300 lb). The female lays 15 to 100 eggs, and broods them until they hatch.

Adaptation continued Pythons are not venomous. They grab their preys neck with their teeth and wrap their bodies around there prey. Their bodies are almost all muscle so when they wrap around the prey the muscle pushes all air out of the lungs and suffocates the prey. then their jaw stretches so they can swallow their prey whole. this is called constriction

Were Pythons come from They are found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Pacific islands. They are comfortable on either ground or in trees. They are active around dawn and dusk.

Human impact Deaths have been reported from shock do to fright… In cases where the snake is killed and brought to the clinic, examination of the snake helps to determine whether it is poisonous or non- poisonous. In the absence of the snake, the bite mark should be examined using a magnifying lens.

Ancestors Many researchers think that lizards might be the ancestors of snakes they believed that snakes “use to have legs”????
