 Certain weather phenomena are unique to specific regions.

 A violent tropical storm system that forms over warm waters.  Gets its energy from the water and then dies down when it hits land.  Occurs in the Atlantic Ocean.  Generally found east of the International Date Line.

 A violent tropical storm that brings heavy rains and high winds.  Occurs in the Pacific Ocean.  Called hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean.  Forms over water.  Found west of the international date line.

 Seasonal winds that blow over a continent for months at a time providing heavy rainfall.  Wind direction depends on the seasons – summer or winter.  Occurs in Southeast Asia.  Develop over land – Asia.

 Violent funnel shaped cloud that touches the earth and causes damage.  Occurs in the United States.  During spring and summer seasons.  Tornado Alley – Great Plains (central U.S. area).
