What is East? Group Members: Jennifer Guereca, Angela Hazelbaker,& Marisol Juarez

Have you ever heard of “East”? “Environmental and Spatial Technology” It is teaching model that enhances learning by…. Encouraging higher order processing and application of class room content Encouraging students to be self-directed in their learning Being able to use technology to solve community and content based problems

What will students gain from the experience? Understanding of content knowledge Experience working within a team Specialized technology skills Self esteem Confidence Problem solving skills Awareness of community

Community aspects After helping with the High School Class they will be better equipped to use good writing techniques. Thus: –Applications to Jobs –Papers that must be done in the college level –Maybe one day to help their own kids with these writing skills.

Students have the opportunity to… Overcome personal fears: -fear of failing -fear of public speaking -fear of challenges Learn networking skills and make community contacts

Organize information and a style manual such as MLA or APA to create Note cards or other note taking forms Formal outline Works cited page or resource sheet Thesis statement Parenthetical citations within text Title page or style heading

Networking with community ***Students gain important contacts within the community that often leads to employment opportunities. ***Students gain experience in the process of networking and communication skills. ***The community recognizes the students and their contributions they have made.

Initial Proposal Includes a Power Point (oral) presentation and a written presentation Acts as a focusing point for the TEAM The proposal is a very important step because each student gives their ideas. The proposal refines the project and identifies potential roadblocks to success.

Project Implementation Students assume and begin to work together to bring project into focus. There will be problems that would arise but this is a good time to learn on how to deal with them. It is very important that you listen to everyone on the group so your group would come with the best solution.
