Extracurricular Learning Experience 2 What is ELE? Extracurricular Learning Experience Extracurricular Learning Experience (ELE) highlights the importance of experiential learning (i.e. outside classroom learning) that enables students to exercise pertinent soft skills like leading and managing teams, articulating ideas, strategic planning, and evaluation skills. The extracurricular activities which prepare you to become leaders through experiential learning will introduce you to the theories and practices involved in leading and working in teams, providing you with opportunities to exercise your leadership skills, learning to work as a team and at times, to work independently. Such skills are important and indispensable to future employers.

Extracurricular Learning Experience The name of the subject is Extra-curricular Learning Experience (ELE), different level of program will have different subject code, however, the passing mark and all other criteria and requirement remain the same Please refer to next slide for different code for different program

Extracurricular Learning Experience5 Register for the Subject For all ELE subject, the selection of the subject happen only during the first semester of each academic year. For example, a degree student should take ECA 100 on Year 1 Semester 1, take ECA 200 on Year 2 Semester 1 and ECA 300 on Year 3 Semester 1 Student should take note that it is compulsory to pass the previous level of ELE subject before they take the next level. For example, student have to complete ECA 100 before taking ECA 200

Extracurricular Learning Experience6 Passing of the Subject For all ELE subject, the duration to complete is 1 year For example, taking the ELE subject on 2015 May semester, student will need to accumulate enough point to pass before May 2016 The exact deadline for point accumulation will be announced via student For all ELE subject, the passing point is 40 points, the point can be accumulated through the 3 category in the following slides To get the point for the ELE subject, student will need to submit a report for the event/competition that he participate, details on how to submit a report can be found in the file : “Event Participation Report Submission” and “Membership ELE Point Submission” To understand what to write in an event report, please refer to the slides after the categories explanation.

 To get the point for the ELE subject, student will need to submit a report for the event/competition that he participate within 7 days after the event/competition end, through the MyECA portal details on how to submit a report can be found in the file : “Event Participation Report Submission” and “Membership ELE Point Submission”  To understand what to write in an event report, please refer to the slides after this.
