Author and Illustrator Anna Dewdney By Kelly Boersma

Biography Dewdney is an author (she writes the stories) and an illustrator (draws the pictures in the book) She has two kids who are grown, two dogs and lives in a big old house in Vermont. She has had other jobs such as a waitress, furniture sales, daycare provider and teacher, but she enjoys drawing and writing children’s books the most. Her mom and older sister also write books, just of a different kind such as the psychology books her sister writes. She is a New York Times best selling author. Dewdney has also been nominated for other awards such as the Children’s Choice Book Award in 2012 and 2013.

Lessons Dewdney writes books that deal with the everyday issues children may face. Some of the topics she covers are being away from mama, bulling, sharing and being bored. The books give a look at how to deal with these issues in a positive way. There is also a line of board books for young children. The Llama Llama books are featured in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Train Library. – This is non-profit group providing books to young children.
