HEON - Eastern - Award collected by Julia Blackwell Teresa has been the rock on which the Suffolk HECA officers have relied upon for many years and her sustained efforts continues to ensure that one of the most long running partnerships, over 15 years, Suffolk Energy Action Group (SEAL) is still developing.

East Midlands - Award collected by Dave Malone The Northamptonshire Home Energy Efficiency Partnership (NHEEP) comprises all seven district/borough councils in Northamptonshire, working in partnership with fuel suppliers, boiler manufacturers, installers and Warm Front. The partnership works together to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies in the private sector.

Northern Ireland The winner of the Northern Ireland award is Pauline Beattie, from the Castlereagh District Office of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. Pauline was nominated for all her hard work on a flagship scheme to install solar Photovoltaic panels on three blocks of flats in Castlereagh. This involved selling the project to the tenants, acting as their representative at Project Team meetings, ensuring they were kept informed at all times, organizing consultation events and resolving problems both before and after installation of the panels.

London Simon has achieved a high media profile over the last year promoting the ideas of energy efficiency in the home (responding to leads provided by EST he has successfully carried out home energy visits, and the resulting articles have spread the word of energy efficiency to a wide (and not necessarily typically 'green') audience, through national media including the Times and Telegraph. He also currently runs the North West London EEAC, covering seven London Boroughs and is also the acting HECA officer for Islington.

NEDEF Ken has successfully established Wansbeck District Council’s first affordable warmth strategy, called ‘Warmer Wansbeck’. The Council adopted the strategy in December 2005 and it was formally launched in Jan This is a major achievement as a strategy has been talked about for a number of years. ‘Warmer Wansbeck’ will ensure that affordable warmth issues are effectively dealt with in Wansbeck District through effective partnership working of the steering group members.

West Midlands Robin has carried out a work programme on behalf SMBC through its renovation Grants programmes and serviced the ALMO (Solihull Community Housing ~ SCH) with energy conservation initiatives and practical help. He developed and continually evaluated an energy strategy for Solihull including the areas managed by SCH and also developed a joint funded loft insulation programme linked to heating replacement and “Decent Homes” works.

South West Jarrod works as HECA officer in two very different ECA’s and has developed a unique EEC funded scheme that has quickly become one of the most successful in Devon. He has also secured funding for a British Gas/Windsave micro-wind trial, sticking with the project despite powerful opposition form local residents.

HEON - North West Alison has been a HECA Officer for the past nine years, in which time she has also been a fundamental part of the success of the North West HEON group by being the secretariat since the group’s inception. Her work in relation to HECA and Fuel poverty has attracted considerable amounts of funding to the City Council and she has developed outstanding partnerships that have helped Manchester people reduce their energy bills. She has demonstrated, in the annual HECA reports to Defra, the achievements that her team has delivered and the reports have consistently received praise from Defra and leading officers as well as members of Manchester City Council.

Scotland Osato won the Scotland HECA Award for an outstanding contribution to Home Energy Conservation throughout the year.

Wales Adrian and Gerry continue to develop innovative projects and have an excellent track record of implementing successful schemes such as the pilot of the Here to Help scheme in the private sector and the development of the Affordable Warmth Action Plan. Adrian and Gerry have also organised a number of successful conferences within their own County, Gwyneth, and are recognised as being very pro-active officers within the HECA field. This award is the second Wales HECA Award awarded to Adrian/Gerry in three years.

East Pennine - Award collected by Paul Maplethorpe It was decided by the East Pennine Forum that, because there has been a multitude of good schemes in the area this year, with many offices giving dedicated time to these projects, that it would be unfair for just one applicant to receive the award and, therefore, the decision was made that the award be presented to all members of the Forum for the outstanding work achieved in the East Pennine area.

South East - Collected by Brian Mannian Verena Skinner won the South East Award for her boundless enthusiasm, determined approach and the success she has achieved over the past two years in very effectively raising the profile of energy conservation and fuel poverty in Runnymede.
