The refurbishment of the building roofs and in particular the use of mono-pitch roof structures, to incorporate PV arrays. The use of a district biomass heating scheme. Funding now being sought for pilot study of these interventions.

15 www.usea.org.uk Community Engagement Case Study Paradigm Housing, Hayes, Hillingdon Borough of London  24 ‘social housing’ dwellings, built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 5.  Includes sedum roof, photovoltaic lighting, thermal efficient construction, heat recovery, rainwater harvesting, light tubes, and heating/hot water provided by communal biomass boiler.  Aim: engage, inform and inspire residents to become as eco-friendly as the homes they live in, and expand into the surrounding neighbourhood.
