Welcome to Mr. Hart’s Earth and Space Science Class September 5th, 2006

COURSE PHILOSOPHY: Earth and Space Science is a course based on the study of our planet Earth and its workings. The course is divided into four main areas of study listed on page one of your syllabus. The class will be taught following the California State Standards for Earth Science: California State Standards for Earth Science

TEXTBOOK TO BE USED: McDougal Littell. Earth Science The textbook also has a very useful accompanying website where students can expand on the knowledge learned in class through interactive internet investigations. These activities are optional, but will count towards extra credit with each chapter: Link to the Earth Science Textbook Website

HOMEWORK AND OTHER ASSIGNMENTS: Homework is to be done every night. Homework and a chapter outline should be ready to be turned in at the beginning of class together as a portfolio on the day of the chapter test (see cover sheet). Homework lists and fill-in notes are available for download from the course website: Link to the Class Website

GRADES: You earn your grade. It is dependent on your overall points, which includes tests, homework, class work, group work, projects, midterm and final. Daily work is expected, otherwise you will fall behind quickly. It is your responsibility to do the class work, group work, homework and readings. You total grade for the class will be determined by the total number of points you earn divided by the total number of points possible in the class. Grades will be posted in the classroom by student number after each chapter test and can also be obtained via .

CONTACT INFORMATION: All of the websites and contact information are also contained in the class syllabus for reference. The best way to contact me is via at Questions?
