Child Protective Service Caseworker By: Kaitlin Newhard

What is the role of a caseworker? The main responsibility of a child welfare social worker is to protect children from situations of abuse and neglect also called maltreatment. Their focus us ensuring the social, physical, psychological and emotion well-being of their client.

Child Protective Services A state mandated agency charged with investigating reports of suspected child abuse and neglect. We provide preventative services and follow-up supportive services.

Skills Needed Child welfare social work can be stressful and demanding. It presents a number of challenges, but can help you make a meaningful and significant difference in the lives of your clients. Caseworkers are often expected to maintain high case loads.

Counseling Professional agency counselors provide individual and group sessions that are appropriate to the client’s needs. These services include parenting skills, marriage and family counseling.
