 3 resolutions made here:  Boycott all trade with England until the Intolerable Acts were overturned  Warn and Form state militia's  Meet again in a few months if needed.

 Henry Middleton was the president of the congress  Total of 56 delegates  Met from September 5, 1774 to October 26, 1774  Met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

 England was angered even more, because refused to trade with them.  A second meeting (2 nd Continental Congress) was called due to 3 rd resolution

 Created a Continental ArmyContinental Army  Wrote the Olive Branch PetitionOlive Branch Petition  Authorized independent colony governments and made a committee to create a declaration of independence create a declaration of independence

 Created during the 2 nd Continental Congress  Formed from state militia’s  George Washington was appointed Commander in Chief

 Written because of a desire of peace from the colonists.  Stated that colonists were loyal to the king.  Asked to repeal Intolerable Acts and to restore peace.  King George III rejected it and blockaded American ports to punish the colonies

 By June of 1776 Thomas Jefferson was writing the Declaration of Independence  After it was debated, it was finally approved and signed on July 4, 1776.
