Community Involvement "It is my duty as the leader of the young people of this country to encourage them to work and to exert themselves in order to raise their own standards and to be of service to the country.” - Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan 2

3 Reflect "He who does not know his past cannot make the best of his present and future, for it is from the past that we learn.“ - Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan

CRITERIAMINIMAL: 1 - 2BEGINNING: 3 - 4DEVELOPING: 5 - 6ACHIEVED : 7 - 8EXCELLENCE : ACTIVE LEARNER Seeks the easiest and simplest path. Makes one limited attempt and gives up. Copies ideas and choices from other students. Focuses on finishing the task. Has a limited view of own capacity and relies on teacher assistance at each new step. Takes some risks in unfamiliar areas and persists to a basic extent. Seeks help to adapt and improve, but work is incomplete. Takes risks by experimenting with different styles and strategies. Chooses the most effective and efficient, justifying their choice. Uses a wide range of strategies and styles and suggest refinements and alternatives, sound reasoning and reflection. Goes beyond the requirements of the task. ACTIVE RESEARCHER Gathers limited knowledge from limited sources. Little planning Copies information directly. Uses basic and familiar resources (library, internet). With help, plans a response and organizes information. Paraphrases gathered information, summarizing and organizing information from a variety of resources, and plans a response. Explores a wide range of resources that generate more than one point of view. Differentiates fact from opinion in plan. Organizes and summarizes information to best fit the purpose. Clarifies the task and makes assumptions where necessary. Identifies fact, opinion and assumptions in plan of action. Uses a wide range of resources and critically analyses their usefulness. REFLECTIVE LEARNER Demonstrates no personal understanding of the units of study or reflection on any processes used. Demonstrates limited understanding of the dimensions of their units of study and how it connects to personal experience or other areas of learning. Identifies main focus areas of learning required by the units of study and connects these to own experience and other learning areas. Describes how they decided to tackle the task based on preferred learning style. Clearly, and in detail, describes all aspects of their learning achieved through the units of study and what they’ve learned about the way they think. Describes how they interpreted their findings and refined them where needed. Demonstrates insight and deep reflection when describing the significance of their understanding of the units of study and the resulting product of their work. Is able to critique their own learning and processes used and describe how they might change it in the future. PRESENTER Does not engage with parent. Content is minimal and poorly organized. Varies voice only slightly with limited facial expression and gestures. Resources used are poor quality. Uses voice well to engage parent. Uses simple resources to assist presentation. States key reflections clearly and in a logical sequence. Engages parent, connects well with audience in delivery and responsiveness. Presentation is cohesive and well structured. Excites and interests parent through skillful and animated use of body language. Clearly articulates processes and findings. Adjusts presentation as needed

Plan a Goal: Child and Parent as a Team Type a SMART goal you think is most important for both of you. -What are the steps you will take to achieve that goal? -How will you monitor that the goal is being reached?
