European Integration, Politics and Policies The goal of the course is a deep students’ understanding of actual European politics and policies problems as well as ways of their solving based on the knowledge about the European integration and political process in the EU and trained skills of these application in the practice. The goal of the course is a deep students’ understanding of actual European politics and policies problems as well as ways of their solving based on the knowledge about the European integration and political process in the EU and trained skills of these application in the practice. The tasks of the course: The tasks of the course: understanding of theoretical and empirical knowledge on European politics. governance and practice-oriented skills training: universal competencies of communication and presentation, team work, leadership, moderation and participation in discussions. more European specific critical understanding and analysis of the problems, as well as to the search for the ways of their solving.

Course Programme 1. History of the European Integration 2. European integration studies and theories 3. EU Political Institutions 4. Contemporary Problems of the EU Political Setting 5. Governance and Policy-Oriented Studies in the European Union 6. EU External Policy 7. European Integration and Governance in the Globalized World

Topic 1. History of the European Integration Seminar. Pedagogical Training «History of the European Integration for Children». Knowledge Skills trained: analytical and creative competencies, team work and pedagogical skills.

Topic 2. European integration studies and theories Seminar. Simulation play “Political Science Conference on European Integration Theories”. Comprehension Skills trained: critical understanding, connection between the theory and interpretation, analytical and creative competencies, moderation and participation in the discussions.

Topic 3. EU Political Institutions Seminar. «Lobbing in the European Union». Application Skills trained: better understanding of concrete institutions and actors, practical perspective, team work, analytical and presentation competencies.

Topic 4. Contemporary Problems of the EU Political Setting Seminar. Simulation game: “European Convent: Discussion on the European Constitution Project». Application Skills trained: deep understanding of the problems and argumentation on its basis, search for the problems solving with taking into account different interests, moderation and participation in the political discussions, competence of the negotiations and compromise searching.

Topic 5. Governance and Policy- Oriented Studies in the EU Seminar. Training on the Policy- Analysis in the European Union Analysis Skills trained: analytical competencies, writing, adopting and presentation skills.

Topic 6. EU External Policy Seminar. Simulation game «EU-Russia Summit». Synthesis Skills trained: negotiations and discussions competencies, leadership and team work, communication and understanding between different political positions and interests, strategic action and compromises finding skills.

Topic 7. European Integration and Governance in the Globalized World Seminar. «Lisbon Strategy: Ways of Implementation». Synthesis Skills trained: analytical competencies, team work, communication and presentation competencies.
