Journal 1/4 1. Describe the two main parts of photosynthesis: Light reactions & Calvin cycle. 2. Describe the two main parts of cellular respiration: Glycolysis and Krebs cycle. 3. How are cellular respiration & photosynthesis related?

Cellular Respiration & Photosynthesis Video Project ELIGIBLE CONTENT: Describe the fundamental roles of plastids (e.g., chloroplasts) and mitochondria in energy transformations. Compare the basic transformation of energy during photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Describe the role of ATP in biochemical reactions

This project is your midterm. In other words, the paper-pencil midterm this Tuesday is cancelled!

Objective  To use technology to show understanding of cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis.  Your video MUST answer all questions listed on the back of handout) AND also have a purpose. (song, commercial, talk show, game show, or story)  YOUR VIDEO SHOULD NOT BE YOUR GROUP READING OFF INFORMATION ABOUT PHOTOSYNTHESIS.  If you are unable to make a video, you may do a live performance

Planning/ details  Group of no more than 4 from your class  Create a story line. Use the processes of Cellular Respiration and Photosynthesis and decide on the layout of your video. Some suggestions or ideas are listed below to help you:  You may want to act out the steps (Story)  You may want to make a commercial, song (musical video), Talk Show, or Game Show  Be creative!! This is suppose to be fun  Research and Planning: MUST ADDRESS THE ANSWERS TO ALL QUESTIONS ON YOUR HANDOUT (under “content knowledge”)  Suggestion: Rehearse without a camera before filming  Specifics:  Time: Your video must last no less than two minutes.  I must be able to see all members of the group in the video in at LEAST two different scenes.

Content  MUST ADDRESS THE ANSWERS TO ALL QUESTIONS ON THE BACK OF YOUR HANDOUT (under “content knowledge”)  HINT: You can find the answers to these questions in your notes, book, and in the powerpoint presentation located on our class website: brownringgold.weebly.com

Criteria RubricScore PlanningExtremely thorough; displays evidence of extensive research; presents accurate information 10 points OrganizationMaterial is extremely well organized; presentation was clearly summarized in students own words; format is logical and easy to follow 10 points EffectiveCaptures the interest of the audience and presents a clear message 10 points PresentationClever, creative, and appealing delivery of required components; material delivered in an engaging and original manner 10 Points Participation Everyone in the group participated equally 20 points Content All questions listed under “content knowledge” on the previous page are addressed within the video/ performance 40 points Evaluation Rubric

Your job today: 1. Answer the questions under “Content Knowledge” on a separate sheet of paper. USE:  Notes  Book  Your group 2. Begin to brainstorm ideas for your video. Remember: It must have a purpose (commercial, music video, talk show, etc.)

Exit Slip 1/4 List three possible ideas for your photosynthesis & cellular respiration project
