Human Rights Commission on Slavery A commission has been formulated to evaluate the nature of slavery in your society. 1)Within your group, you must research the development and/or aspects of slavery in your assigned society in order to prepare for a role playing assignment. IDENTIFY THE TIMEFRAME you are researching. You should also address the following factors in your role play: role of slaves (jobs they perform), ethnicity, rights (personal freedoms or restrictions), how status of slavery is determined, ability to gain manumission (freedom). 2)Divide your group into the following roles: Slave owners and Slaves. You will prepare a statement that properly reflects the opinion about slavery according to your role (i.e. pro or con). You will be expected to understand the position of your role for class discussion tomorrow and you will be asked to present your position to the Commission of Human Rights in class tomorrow.
