Working Together to achieve excellence Assessment and Reporting KS3

Working Together to achieve excellence Changes to Assessment Level descriptors, such as 4B, 4A, 5C, no longer apply in KS3 GCSE grades A*-G will be replaced with a 1-9 grading system We will now assess and measure your progress across KS3 and KS4 using the 1-9 grading system.

Working Together to achieve excellence Old and New Hands up if you know what you achieved in your KS2 SATS! What is its new Doddle KS3 baseline? What is the new Doddle KS3 baseline for a student who achieved a 4b? 1.3

Working Together to achieve excellence Steps of progress At what step should a 4B student typically expect to reach by the end of Year 9? 3.5

Working Together to achieve excellence

How you will be assessed Do you recognise this?

Working Together to achieve excellence

How you will be assessed You will be assessed using the Doddle `I can do` statements These `I can do` statements are assessed either by the teacher, or through interactive assessments. You will be graded as either: – Green (Secure) – Amber (Developing) – Red (Novice)

Working Together to achieve excellence Working out your current step! Each `I can do` statement is awarded a step value between 1 and 9. A step score of 1 is the lowest level of difficulty

Working Together to achieve excellence Your turn! Student A has been assessed against four `I can do` statements, each with the following step difficulty. All were passed! AessesmentStep Difficulty A12 A22 A33 A43 Current Step Score? 2.5 This is an approximation! A complex algorithm determines the current step score!

Working Together to achieve excellence Scenario 1 Student A has only been assessed against Doddle `I can do` statements with a step difficulty of 3! – What is his/her maximum current working step? 3

Working Together to achieve excellence Scenario 2 Student A has a current step score of 2.3 Predict what will happen to his/her new current step score if he/she: – Passes 5 new assessments, each with a step difficulty of 3! – Records a `Novice` rating for 5 new assessments, each with a step value of 2! Increases! Decreases!

Working Together to achieve excellence How will it be recorded in your books? You will place one sticker on the front of each of your exercise books or inside your student planner! The sticker will contain three pieces of information: – PST (This is your end of year Target!) – EOY Estimate (This is based on your KS2 score, will vary between subjects and will be given to you!) – Current Step (This is calculated by Doddle and will be determined by how many assessments are graded R/A/G)

Working Together to achieve excellence This cannot be lower than what is recorded in the steps of progress table! This will be given to you! This will be worked out by Doddle! Your PST can be set higher to provide challenge! This is where you should look when asked what level you are working at!

Working Together to achieve excellence Powerful reporting

Working Together to achieve excellence Homework and classroom activities can be set, on activities where you are not yet secure!
