Curtis A. Meyer 13 December, 2003 The Detector Review Review the tracking and calorimeter elements Vertex Detector Straw Tube Chamber Forward Tracker Barrel Calorimeter Pb-Glass Array Backwards Veto Time-of-flight Cherenkov Detector We need these for the complete picture

Curtis A. Meyer 13 December, 2003 What do we want? We want feedback on individual detector choices. we believe that the individual components can work together to achieve these goals. We want feedback on construction techniques we believe that we can build this detector. We want feedback on the overall detector. we believe that we have designed a detector that can deliver the physics goals we have set out.

Curtis A. Meyer 13 December, 2003 The Committee’s Charge As with the electronics review, our charge has to carefully worded. We have detectors in all stages of development and construction. We have never had feed back that is not useful. We just need to make sure the committee understands where we are in the project.

Curtis A. Meyer 13 December, 2003 The Committee Members We need to start now identifying potential members of this committee. As with the previous two reviews, we need someone from Jefferson Lab on the committee. John Domingo Bernard Mecking My personal opinion is that the committee should have either 3 or 4 member, with a preference for 3.

Curtis A. Meyer 13 December, 2003 When is the review If I look at where we are now, and the material that we need to prepare for such a review, I would think that the earliest could be mid-June. I also think that we should work hard to make sure that this happens no later than mid July.

Curtis A. Meyer 13 December, 2003 Preparation We need to provide a packet of information about 3 weeks before the review. We need to provide copies of our talks. We need to generate some written material, but I don’t think we want to produce a lot of new material.

Curtis A. Meyer 13 December, 2003 Outline of Talks Physics Goals of GlueX and timeline Global picture of what is needed to achieve these goals. Detector by Detector discussion Where do we see issues, and how are we going to address them. Summary and Outlook
