RESEARCH in PROGRESS New RiP Web site – Over 6700 RiP records Incorporates features developed under NCHRP Project 20-39(2) Simple and advance searching and browse capabilities. Authorized users can add, modify, and delete records Subscription alert service – notifies user of new project in specific subject areas Links to project information on other Web site Link from search results to run search on TRIS Online

RiP Usage In April over 15,000 visitors – 32 States used the RiP Web site in April 400 Subscribers to alerting service of new projects Since September 2002, over 1350 new projects added and 3478 modified 34 State DOTs have added records since September

Plans for RiP Allow batch loads to TRB Increase university research Add International coverage Link from RiP record to TRIS records of published reports and when possible link to full text of reports

Update on TRIS TRIS now contains over 570,000 Over 30,000 new records added last year Handling documents in a variety of formats Increase coverage in intermodal, freight, planning, and human factors areas Implementing new data entry system Available – Dialog, Transport Product (SilverPlatter/Ovid), and as TRIS Online on the Web

TRIS Online TRIS Online is on the Web through the National Transportation Library at the Bureau of Transportation Statistics TRIS Online accessed by over 8,000 unique users each month. Now about 12,000 links from TRIS records to full text Over 90,000 links for direct ordering publications

Plans for TRIS ITRD material available with TRIS on Dialog Possibility of elimination of funding for National Transportation Library makes the future of TRIS Online uncertain –TRB will continue to produce TRIS

Other Information Services Activities NCHRP Project 20-07/142 – Scoping study on national strategic plan for managing transportation information – contractors revising report SCOR funded TRB to a major policy study on developing a national strategic plan for transportation information
