Theme: World of knowledge Topic: Spider Objectives : At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to : 1) Write short paragraphs. 2) Answer fill in the blank questions. Integrated Skills : 1.3.3Listen to and understand phrases in stories heard Name or identify animals Complete parts of a story read Read and learn the meaning of key words Provide missing letters in words Complete simple story with the missing words. Pedagogical Principles : CCT, Mastery Learning. Moral Values : Love the animals.

A spider is an insect. It has eight legs. It spins silk which it uses to make webs. Spiders use their webs to catch insects as food. By catching insects,spiders help to keep the numbers of insects down. Most spiders are harmless creatures. However, there are some spiders which are poisonous. The Black Widow spider is the most dangerous. Its bite can cause a lot of pain and even death. SPIDERS

STEP 1 – 10 MINUTES Teacher shows the pupils a picture of a spider. Teacher asks questions. i) What animals is it ? ii) How many legs does it have ? ii) How many legs does it have ? iii) What does it eat ? iii) What does it eat ? iv) Are all spiders poisonous ? iv) Are all spiders poisonous ? STEP 2 – 15 MINUTES Teacher reads the passage. Teacher reads together with the pupils. Teacher highlights the teaching point ( Singular and plural ). STEP 3 – 20 MINUTES Teacher calls the pupils one at a time to do the guided writing. INDEPENDENT WORK Pupils fill in the blanks and construct sentences from the words given. Pupils are divided into 3 groups. ( Level 1, 2 and 3 according to their abilities ) ENGLISH HOUR

STEP 4 – ( 10 MINUTES ) Summing Up - Teacher asks the pupils about the grammar in Step 2. - Teacher asks the pupils about the moral values. STEP 5 – ( 5 MINUTES ) HOMEWORK - Pupils read the story at home. - Pupils copy the story into their exercise book.
