THE FCAT What you need to know about the test to pass the test.

BASIC FCAT INFO The FCAT tests your comprehension ability. The FCAT is written for 12 th Grade students. Take it as a 10 th grader for many reasons. Test Data, and the opportunity to pass before senior year and graduation. You need to earn a 300 to pass, 60%. You can earn equivalent scores with the ACT and SAT, but you shouldn’t have to.

More info… Why are the stories so boring? -To judge your understanding of the given material, not something you may already know about. Why are the stories so long? -It is an endurance test, you must be able to show that you can read, think, and concentrate for extended periods of time. Why do I have to take it? -because we use the data to see where you struggle and try to help you improve.

And more info… Why is it part of my graduation requirement? – Politics How many times can I take the test? – Up to six times before graduation, twice a year. If I don’t pass what happens? – You will be placed in a reading course to help improve your reading ability. If you don’t pass by graduation, you will not receive a diploma but a letter of attendance. – Do I have to take the reading course? Yes

The Day of the FCAT Go to your testing site. Bring sharpened number two lead pencils, no mechanical pencils, they are not scored correctly. Use all the strategies you learn, they are your best ally against this test.
