MAKE,IT,WORK ISBP: Institute Sup’BIotech Paris FRANCE Experience to get a job

Situation INSEE announced that the unemployment rate for young people increased and now affects 24.2% of this age group. It represents 671,000 young people between 15 and 24 years old. Unemployment rose again in France in the third quarter of 2012 and now affects 9.9% of the active population and 10.3% with the overseas departments. The National Institute of Statistics now considers that 2,826,000 people are unemployed in France. (Young women are the most affected)

Reasons to act The rate of youth unemployment is more than double that of adults: 22.7% against 9.2% in the third quarter of The chances of unemployed youth to find a job are low : only 29.7% of young people aged 15 to 24 unemployed in 2010 found work in When young people work, it is often temporary : in 2012, 42% of young employees working under a temporary contract (four times more than adults) and 32% worked part-time (almost twice the rate of adults). Young no graduates are a risk group : 54.2% of them are unemployed, and among them 70% want to work. Resignation is a growing problem : 12.4% of inactive youth willing to work but didn't find employment in the second quarter of In 2011, 12.9% of youth who were unemployed, were not in education or training. There is a large mismatch of skills on the European labor market. Despite the crisis, more than two million jobs are vacant in the European Union.

Experience/Effects & Consequences Young people have to abandon their vocation, to reform themselves, to refocus, to develop new skills (which are sometimes not adapted to their personality) and to find odd jobs. It increases poverty, misery, violence (thefts, attacks, crimes) and the discrimination (tensions, intolerance and can go up to racism), There is also an increase of illegality, bargaining, prostitution and work not stated, moonlighting. Decline and deterioration of conditions of work and workers' rights. Escape of experienced and qualified graduates to find work abroad, for instance engineers who leave the country for better paid work (other graduates of high schools must return to their home country and leave their work required by the government) They have to stay with their parents, because they can not live alone : can not pay bills and everything it necessary to live. Dismissal of people is too expensive : is not attractive for hiring Context socio-economic : the crisis Globalization : relocation Demographics : increase of the population due to a longer life not enough jobs Technology and innovation with machines : reduce labor and number of jobs

Our Solutions We are in need of deep reforms Easing of labor laws : flexibility Strengthen partnerships between governments, companies ( at local, regional and national scale.) and ease labor-management agreements We need to make it easier for companies to adapt, to develop themselves and better guidance within the French educational system. Job creation thanks to the fall in social charges and taxes paid by businesses Improve access to education and to a better orientation : Promote learning, specialization, professionalization in line with companies needs (multi-skilled, all-purpose to answer to market) versus to follow a general education (academic).

Our Solutions Promote the internship during each summer holidays to the high school : for one month, students have to find an internship on sector they want in order to find the way that they would like to work for the future. Moreover, these three internships are a good experience to develop their skills and a great advantage to get a job. (Also permit to get financial independence), Opening store the Sunday in order to create jobs and it allows tourism to develop. It is interesting to improve English, computer and qualifications which are more and more required. It might allow to integration into professional life

Our Solutions Consider applications for jobs in sectors according to business needs Create job websites by region to ease access to upon request It is essential to reassert the value of so-called industrial jobs, jobs like macon or garbage man Investment and promotion of some sectors where there is a lack of staff. Job people do not want to do like Revaluation of manual labor like butcher or jobs field of restauration and hotelerie, Develop and sustain traditional crafts and small producers, prevent the delocation Encourage project ideas, the entrepreneurial spirit and develop innovative strategies

Plan results and outcomes We target the group of students in high school because we just left it and we think it is better to know it for changing it Timeline will be short, like 2 or 3 years if the political will is present, To measure the impact, we will follow students on few years to make statistics ( How many have a job ? How many are unemployed?...) We expect it can reduce unemployment but if it permit to young people to receive experience, money and maybe to find a job, it will be great.
