Characteristics Fish have muscular tails. Fins that keep them stable. They make fish move rapidly. They have grills to help them breath under water. Most fish have scales. These scales protect the fish. The scales are made of bones.

Facts Fish have a slimy mucus like subtance on their body. Catfish have over 27,000 taste buds. Humans have around 7,000. Seahorses only swim upright. Most brands of lipstick contain fish scales. Sharks are the only fish that have eye lids.

Habitats

Fish Food Most fish eat smaller fish. Fish have teeth but they don’t chew. They use their teeth to capture their pray and tear off chucks of food.

Reproduction Reproduction is controlled by sex hormones. Fish reproduction are by eggs. The female lays the egg and the male releases the sperm. Some fish don’t take care of their young. Others carry their young.
