Integrating sensors into prosthetic limbs overcomes many limitations of stand-alone sensor devices for health monitoring. – However, sensing technologies have yet to be integrated into clinical practices or used regularly to enhance quality of care.

Thoughtfully developing and integrating sensor systems into clinical practice may enhance quality of care provided to persons with limb loss and promote prosthetic users’ function, health, and quality of life.
