Overview WHY IS EVALUATION IMPORTANT TO A SPEECH? WHAT SHOULD YOU CONSIDER WHEN EVALUATING SPEECHES? WHO EVALUATES YOUR SPEECH? Our job as speakers is to welcome and grow with evaluation. Oral evaluations are brief overviews in oral form describing what the evaluator saw and felt about the speech. Written evaluations are assessments in written form which tend to contain more detailed descriptions and suggestions.

Who Evaluates Your Speech? THE AUDIENCE THE INSTRUCTOR YOUR CLASSROOM PEERS <<CLICK>> You: Reflexivity happens when you take a moment to consider yourself in relation to the speech and vice versa. <<CLICK>> The audience: When an audience actively participates in your speech, they are offering you feedback that can help you adjust your speech. <<CLICK>> The instructor evaluates you to reinforce learning and the main principles taught in class. <<CLICK>> Your classroom peers: Remember, you do not need to be an expert in public speaking before you can offer a useful evaluation.
