Make a chart of things that represents culture. 1st: Make a PLAN! Do this by BRAINSTORMING: Make a chart of things that represents culture. Write examples and symbols of each of these that represents YOUR CULTURE.

My Examples/Ideas … Symbols/Ways I can show this in picture form type of clothes I wear Casual … my “uniform” seems to be mostly khaki pants and simple printed shirt, tennis shoes --- New Balance… Perhaps draw or find pic of khaki pants or NB shoes beliefs How I think people should be treated ---- fairly, not teased for being different, all live together peacefully. perhaps have a picture of my Aunt Sue & Uncle Donald, Peace – dove symbol other beliefs Honesty is the best policy! Respect & Love for Nature Perhaps have word HONESTY on my collage, some of my State Park Pictures, education Graduated from Georgia Southwestern Symbols: Graduation Cap or Diploma, or book to represent learning family Come from big family … 19 Aunts/Uncles Total just on Mom’s side of family, I live alone but my mom is important to me … , grew up with 2 brothers, 1 sister, Mom, Dad Picture of a family similar to mine, or draw a stick figure drawing to model my family with Mom & Dad, 2 boys & 2 girls Traditions Sunday dinner at Mom’s Picture of big dining room table
Note: For those who like Hunting and it is part of their culture, I have requested that they not use a gun or bullets or any form of weapons to symbolize this. I made other suggestions such as camouflage or a picture of a deer or turkey. One could also use a picture of a deer call or feeder or stand … anything but guns or bullets or weapons. I appreciate you guiding your child in this.

HONESTY This was just the start of Miss Johnson’s Culture Collage. I explained where these pics came from as related to my Culture Brainstorming Chart. It was used to demonstrate that a collage was a large variety of pictures or words overlapping each other in places to fill the paper. End product will be done on a sheet of copy paper.
Prove it to “Prove it to me Johnson” (Miss Johnson’s family nickname) that you KNOW WHAT CULTURE IS by making a NEAT, COLORFUL, DETAILED CULTURE COLLAGE to represent your culture! Be prepared to Present/Share your CULTURE COLLAGE with classmates. Write your name on back in pencil in small, light lettering.
