SOER 2015 The path from SOER 2010 to SOER Reflecting Planning AssessingProducing Project Plan Why? – approach, background, … What? – products, process, … Who? & when? – timeline, …

SOER 2015 More of the same, or something different?... Both! What should stay similar? Maintain familiar structure, Parts A (global), B (Europe), Part C (national), Synthesis Continue the ‘narrative‘, i.e. analysis of systemic challenges, see SOER 2010 What might be different? More stakeholder involvement, especially in conclusions and reflection on future ‘prospects‘ Less duplication of assessments, more focus on, and refering to, existing indicators and reports Publish a credible and reliable, relevant and timely, legitimate and transparent, targeted and accessible assessment in Aim

SOER 2015 The path from SOER 2010 to SOER Reflecting Planning Assessing Producing Discuss with EEA stakeholders (Q1) SOER 2015 Implementation Plan (Q2) START WORK (Q3)

SOER relationship with pan-European environmental reporting and assessments EEA has been put in charge of developing a ‘Regular Process’ for environmental reporting across the pan-European region (accompanied by a decision to gradually extend SEIS to these countries to support this). This includes activities in the UNECE European region supporting the development of indicators and national SOE reports, and the application of the Assessment of Assessments approach. There is thus an opportunity to use the SOER 2015 approaches to help frame and inform this. For example, using SERIS, SENSE, and/or Part C. This extension attempt will not be part of SOER 2015 itself – yet a complementary activity (i.e. to ensure necessary flexibility and focus).

Thank you!
