Andrew Clements Book Project: A Week In The Woods By Cameron Mulvey, Marissa Walsh, Mitchell Pfaff, David Burke, and Arvin Kumaran

Summary Mark Chelmsy is a ordinary kid who used to live in Scarsdale, New York. His parents said we are moving to New Hampshire. He found a penny that had the year he was born, he put it in the radiator saying he lived the best three years of his life in Scarsdale.Leon and Anya told him to come downstairs. Mark then got settled into his new house. He had a teacher Mr. Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell gave him a sheet asking him to come to Week in the Woods. Mark decided to go to Week in the Woods.

Summary Cont. / He shopped on the computer for supplies.Mark went to Week in the Woods with his friend Jason. Jason brought a knife when you were not supposed to. Mark was caught holding it. Mr. Maxwell was about to take Mark home. Mark ran away but then Mr. Maxwell found him they went to the campground. When he got home he asked his parents take the penny in New York and bring it to New Hampshire.

2 WOW! Connections One summer my family and I got lost in Hale Reservation and my dad, who stayed at home, had to pick us up. Like how Mark and Mr. Maxwell had to spend almost a whole night in the woods. In No Talking! There are flashbacks throughout the book as well as A Week in the Woods.

Lesson  The main lesson of the story is that you need to be prepared. One way that can show this is that when Mark was doing his shopping online for Week in the Woods he bought a lot of things he didn’t need so that just in case he did, he had it. Another way that can show that you need to be prepared is that Mark needed to take care of an injury, and while he was shopping online before that, he bought a first aid kit online even though he thought he didn’t need one. Those are two ways to show that the main lesson is that you need to be prepared.

Question  The question that brought a lot of discussion to are group was “How would you feel if you were Mark not having enough time to spend with your parents”? This generated a lot of discussion because some kids had gone through something like it others would be really sad and some were just sad. Can you think of a question that might generate a lot of discussion in your group?

Literary Passages F “Mr. Maxwell squinted and turned his face from the glare of the flash light. Visibly shivering his hat was gone. His hair was matted down wet with sweat with steam rising off his head into the freezing air.his face was pale as a full moon and twisted by pain his lips purple.”

Review The book “A Week in the Woods” By Andrew Clements is a very interesting and exiting book! We enjoyed this book very much, because it was funny and also a challenge to read so we really had to think. Also the author ended each page with something interesting that was going to continue on the next page so in human interest you had to keep reading. “The Week in the Woods”is at the top of our recommendation list and we think you will like it for the same reasons as us. So go read this book!
