Flex Bar Eccentric Extension 3 Preparation: Step 1 Hold the flex bar at one end in the hand being treated. The injured wrist should be cocked back (extension) Keep the injured wrist in the extended position. Step 2 The assisting hand now grasps the flex bar at the opposite end. Twist the flex bar away from you with the assisting hand. Again, the arm being treated does not help to twist the bar and does not move from the cocked wrist position. Step 3 Both arms are brought straight out in front of the body, again, the wrist should remain cocked backwards and stationary. This is the starting position for the exercise

Flex Bar Execution-Eccentric Extension 4 Execution: The assisting arm now remains fixed and the arm being treated does the movement. The treatment wrist now slowly rolls forward stopping with the wrist in neutral and straight position, controlling the bar as the twist is unwound but without loosening the grip. Each repetition should be performed slowly and should take about 5 seconds to unwind On the initial set have the patient repeat the exercise until they start to fatigue. The number that they reach will be what you use for their 2 nd and 3 rd sets. This is especially true for acute or deconditioned patients.

Flex Bar Points to Remember 5 Points to remember The wrist being treated must not move or contribute to the initial twisting of the flex bar. It should remain cocked back in extension all the way until the starting position is achieved and you are ready to begin the exercise itself. To apply this protocol for medial elbow pain follow the steps but start with the wrist in full flexion instead of cocked back in extension.
