Cooperation in Bean Town Missouri Model Guidance Category A: I know people need to work together. Category C: I know how to work and play with both boys and girls in an activity.

At the Bean Town Elementary School, Mrs. Teacher Bean has a problem. She is in charge of planning the school’s field days, and she needs some help.

“Boys and girls,” she said. “This is a huge job, and one that is important to the whole school. I need your help. Will you help me?”

“It will be easier if we all work together,” said Sister Bean. “Things will get done much more quickly by cooperating with each other.”

The class agreed. They decided to work together as small teams. Bob Bean, Brittany Bean, and Barbara Bean planned the relay races.

Sister Bean and Brother Bean, along with Bert Bean, planned for the chorus to sing at the opening ceremony.

Barry Bean and Bonnie Bean sent letters to all of the teachers. They also designed colorful signs for the Field Days.

Belinda Bean and Bart Bean made phone calls to the school cafeteria. Together, they planned the cookout.

Time passed quickly. The boys and girls worked hard together. Soon, it was the day of the big event.

Boys and girls, what do you think happened on that day? What makes you think that?

The Bean Town Elementary School Field Days were the best ever!

Everyone worked together to make this big job into a great day!

At the end of the day, the class was so happy. They knew that, by having boys and girls working together—COOPERATING— they had planned something that everyone could be proud of.

Let’s think about what we learned: *Why should people work together? *What does it mean to “cooperate?” *What are some things you can think of that helps boys and girls to work and play well together? *What are some things that YOU would like to try in YOUR classroom to help cooperation?

You are ALL winners!! Good Job!!
