Aim: How is vocabulary an essential part of the Global History Regents Exam? Do Now: Answer the Aim question to the best of your abilities. (Think back to your experience with the Global History Regents)

Activity #1 Global History- Geography Unit Exam Look over your scantron and identify questions that you got wrong Together, we will go through selected questions and clarify the answers

Domain Specific Vocabulary vs. Academic Vocabulary Domain Specific Vocabulary: Words that students acquire when studying a specific subject (examples: oligarchy, communism, sharecropping) Academic Vocabulary: Words that are part of everyday speech (examples: walk, car, etc.) How are domain specific vocabulary terms different than academic vocabulary terms?

Activity #2 Geography Test Remediation Remediation: the action of correcting something Complete H5 Geography Exam- Vocabulary Remediation worksheet Directions: Choose 8 questions that you got wrong on the Geography Exam. For each incorrect question, identify the key vocabulary term and complete 1 box for each term.
