East Herts Transport and Parking Strategy Public Consultation September/October 2010

Context Herts County Council’s preparation of its next Local Transport Plan (LTP3) for April 2011 LTP3 will influence transport planning and delivery across the county for the next 20 years LTP3 will develop and manage transport in Hertfordshire against five statutory goals: –Supporting economic growth –Reducing carbon emissions –Contributing to better safety and health –Promoting equality of opportunity –Improving quality of life and a natural healthy environment

East Herts and LTP3 Statutory consultees in development of LTP3 Statutory consultees in development of “daughter” documents (e.g. Hertford and Ware UTP) Obvious links with East Herts’ role as the Parking Authority

Transport and Parking Strategy Will dovetail with LTP3 Will major on parking – East Herts Council’s main responsibility Will seek to address the same five issues as LTP3: –Supporting economic growth –Reducing carbon emissions –Contributing to better safety and health –Promoting equality of opportunity –Improving quality of life and a natural healthy environment

What do we want to achieve? A strategy that takes an holistic view of transport and parking in East Herts A strategy that picks up from where LTP3 finishes A strategy that is tailored to the needs of East Herts A strategy that will attempt to reconcile the superficially conflicting objectives described in the previous slide A strategy that will influence transport and parking policy in East Herts for up to 20 years
