Graphing in Science. Types of Charts  Most scientific graphs are made as line graphs.  However, occasionally bar graphs, pie charts, or scatter plots.
Trend lines and Lines of best fit.  Statisticians gather data to determine correlations (relationships) between events.  Scatter plots will often show.
Aim: How do scientists interpret data (Part 3)? Do Now: Copy the following: Line Graph - A graph that is used to display data that shows how one variable.

Put the objects in order according to which has the largest drag force on it

Put the people in order according to who has the largest drag force on them

Mark scheme

Diameter of cone (cm) Time to fall 1m (s) Terminal velocity (m/s)

Start it high up and time it over the last metre.

Experiment predictions

Questions What’s the relationship between diameter and terminal velocity? Why does one type of cone travel faster than another?

Graphs Axis titles and units. Points plotted accurately to within less than one half of a small square. The points must be well spread out over the whole graph paper. Line of best fit should show general trend, should not be a dot to dot.
