Health and Safety Issues

Presentation Information There are lots of problems which are connected to computer use for example Eye strain Back pain Repetitive strain injuries This presentation is about these (and other) problems and ways to reduce the risk.

Eye strain Eye strain is caused by staring at computer screens too long and working in bad light,the solution and a way to avoid it is to take regular breaks and having regular eye tests, also keeping eyes at least 18 inches from the screen.

Back pains Back pains are very common with computer use and is mainly caused by being in an awkward position while using a computer,a simple solution is to use a fully adjustable chair.

Wrist /arm /elbow problems These problems are mainly caused by using the mouse for long periods of time, these problems are common with computer use, a solution is to use wrist rests or take regular breaks.

Repetitive Strain injuries Repetitive strain injuries is damage to the fingers and hands this can be caused by using too much force when typing on a keyboard, the solution is to take regular 5 minute breaks to rest your arms.

Safety Issues Safety Issues are issues regarding safety about the workplace as a workplace can be a dangerous place,but there are precautions which can be taken to ensure the safety of people in a workplace Don’t overload electrical sockets Electrical equipment should be tested at least once a year

Health and Safety legislation The Health and safety at work etc act of 1974 (HASAW) is a primary piece of legislation covering occupational health and safety in the U.K,a number of other acts are relevant to the working environment as well this is a precaution all workplaces need to follow.
