PPP – Research Based Mobility Scheme 2 Objective: Bilateral research grants programme agreed upon by DAAD and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) To promote research collaboration between German and Chinese research groups The focus is on the inclusion of young researchers in common research projects Target Group: Scientists from German and Chinese institutions of higher education and younger researchers For an application a joint scientific research project is required; open to all fields of study Scholarship: Travel grants over a period of one or two years as well as a daily lump sum PPP – Research Based Mobility Scheme

Strategic Partnerships and Thematic Networks 3 Objective: The programme supports partnerships which include one or more subject areas and/or comprise different levels of cooperation; in contrast to partnerships exclusively managed by individual departments, this programme encourages strategic partnerships at the university level and aims to improve the overall quality of research and instruction and to create new synergies by coordinating the activities of the participating institutes more closely. The awarded funding should be used to promote the exchange of professors, establish joint degree programmes and PhD programmes, and carry out research projects; funding should also go towards initiating and expanding additional structured programmes with the partner universities Target Group:All state and state-recognised German universities may apply Scholarship:A total of 250,000 € per project per annum to finance measures which build strategic partnerships can be awarded Strategic Partnerships

Scholarships provided by DAAD Mobility Incoming and Outgoing 4 Objective: To carry out joint research projects or to complete research stays in Germany or China for a duration of two weeks up to three months (Lecture tours and conference attendance are supported by a different programme) Target Group: Postdoctoral academics and scientists from China and Germany working at universities or university-related research institutes Scholarship:For German participants: Germany: travel lump sum, China local hospitality For Chinese participants: China: travel allowance; Germany: local hospitality Bilateral Exchange of Academics

Scholarships provided by DAAD Incoming 5 Objective: To carry out a research project at a university or non-university research institute in Germany for the duration of one to three months Target Group: Foreign academics and scientists working in higher education or at research institutes Scholarship: Depending on the applicant's academic status, the monthly award will amount to 2,000 euros for assistant lecturers, assistant professors and young lecturers, and 2,150 euros for professors, in exceptions, 2,300 euros In addition to these payments, DAAD generally will pay a travel allowance, unless these costs are covered by the home country or by another funding source Research Stays for University Academics and Scientists

Scholarships provided by DAAD Incoming 8 Objective: To carry out a research stay in Germany for a duration of 7 to 18 months Target Group: Excellent young Chinese researchers who hold a PhD degree (particularly candidates from the 958- and 211-Universities as well as from the Chineses Academy of Sciences and the Chineses Academy of Social Sciences) Scholarship:Living expenses, health insurance, travel lump sum, German language course; cost are covered by CSC and DAAD Sino-German Postdoc Scholarship Program

Scholarships provided by DAAD Outgoing 9 Objective: To carry out a research project at a Chinese or Australian university or a research Institute or to carry out field work Target Group:Doctoral candidates from German Universities Scholarship:Living expenses, health insurance, travel lump sum, research allowance length of the grant is one to six months Short-term Scholarship for Doctoral Candidates
