 Amarillo  Then near new railroad but become booming cattle market  Amarillo means yellow After yellow colored soil & wildflowers  Lubbock  Then the hub of the plains grew after the Santa Fe railroad built its line through this town  Midland and Odessa  Known for large oil and gas industries

 Palo Duro Canyon  Second largest canyon after the grand canyon  100 miles long and 6 miles wide  Caprock Escarpment  Steep slops or cliffs that separates the Great Plains from the Central Plains
