Defining Distance Education Distance education is institution- based, formal education where the learning group is separated geographically, and where interactive telecommunications systems are used to connect learners, resources and instructors.

Purpose of Technology in Distance Education The purpose of technology is to promote communication. Effective communication requires an active audience.

Six Types of Technologies Correspondence Study & Prerecorded Media First….

Next… Two-Way Audio: Better known as the phone

Then… One-Way Live Video…. Or Commercial Television.

Another type- Two-Way Audio, One-Way Video That is…microwave transmission systems, instructional television fixed service (ITFS), or community cable networks.
