Family Pictures during the 1960s.

Who used cameras during the 1950s and 1960s? According to my grandparents in the Philippines, they didn’t own their own cameras because it was too expensive to own. Although my grandma doesn’t remember much on who owned their own personal cameras during her time, she did tell me government officials, people who had good working jobs, and professional photographers were some of the few that was able to purchase their own cameras. My grandma also told me that since she and my grandpa didn’t have a camera of their own because they didn’t have a decent job back then, they would have their friends who had cameras take pictures for them like their wedding photo or special events.

Pictures from my Dad’s side of the family from the 80s

Who used cameras during the 70s-80s? My parents told me that during their time, it started becoming easier for people to purchase a camera for their own use. They also informed me that during the 70s and 80s, the use of disposable cameras that you can bring to studios to have your photos printed off were starting to be common in gatherings or when they would be bonding with their family or friends. Classmates told me that the kinds of cameras that they had were mainly polaroid brand cameras where the picture that they have taken is automatically printed off as soon as the picture is taken. Cameras also started to be more lighter and easier for people to carry around instead of carrying the kinds of cameras that they had during the 50s-60s because people can just purchase a camera that either prints off the pictures as soon as the picture is taken or just buying disposable with film to take memories back then.
